I have a set of Blizzak WS-60s on the front and 70s on the back of my G8 GT and even with 400bhp the thing gets around AMAZINGLY!!! No way I could use them year round. They wear out too quickly in the heat.

Only if you have a gutless older AWD 4cyl Subaru.. Both my FWD 300hp car and 4wd 400hp diesel chew up tires like it ain't no one's business.

Also due to the compound being classed as a soft to supersoft it will allso wear out vary quickly. So huge trade off when it comes to price vs life, better off buying cheap medium hard snowtires and a set of chains.

you can't drive a winter tire in the summer it will destroy the tred much quicker than if you just buy an all season

@AYi43Sta Actually that is not correct. Tire's do not absorb water. Even if they did, it would be of no use once the tire is saturated with water right? You wouldn't get out of your driveway without them being saturated. The reason Blizzak tires in particular do so well, is the Multi-Cell compound. This allows the tire to maintain flexibility at sub 40 degree temps. The standard tire's tread becomes almost solid plastic at below 40F. And without flexibility, the tire DOES NOT grip. Period.

Don't be so stupid to think that winter tires don't make a difference search "winter/snow vs. all-seasons vs. summer" klick the first video, and you will se that it makes a huge difference.

It's not a trick.
The compound of the winter tire is hydrophilic. It is soft and porous to absorb water. The harder summer tire does not absorb water.
When the ice cube is placed on the cold summer rubber it slides off on a thin film of water. On the winter tire the film of water is absorbed into the rubber and the ice cube freezes to the cold rubber.
The secret is in cutting through the thin film of water.
Yes the difference between a summer or proper winter tire on wet ice is this dramatic.
