Recover your wii using a GC controller

just plug the controller in the 4th gamecube controller port (the one labeled "...."), & press all the D-pad buttons while turning the console on, it will display the system version & if the console has an autoboot disk on the drive(service mode disk, a modified game that autoboots), it will run it. if it cant run it it will display the system version until you turn the wii off.

so if I put nsmb wii in it,

and press the d-pad buttons it will work again...

can I afterwards install bootmii again and restore the old one?

@dsifriend nope, if you install 4.2 the boot2 will be changed and you cant restore it

@kbralthevictor be sure you are pressing all the buttons on the d-pad, that it is plugged in the 4th port and that you unplug the wii each time you try

hi i bricked my wii by installing a 4.2csm with mymenuify and my wii is 3.2.

if i use the GC controller method i can see on the right bottom 3.2 but what game will update it to 4.2??

this doesn't work for me DX the diagnostic message wont appear and i took the controller apart and im holding down all buttons, and it is plugged into the 4th port
