  • I sailed on her in the late 70's when she was the flag ship of the NATO Squadron. Spliced the mainbrace at Spithead, soaked up a lot of sun & suds at Rosey Roads, hitchhiked through Norway, rode across on a jackstay in the North Sea, crossed the Arctic Circle & enjoyed many adventures ashore as well as in 10 mess. I still have the yellow T shirt & the XO's cap. It brought a tear to my eye to see her go down like this....

  • I am glad the Americans didn't get the chance to finish her off.

  • This was the first video that I ever watched on YouTube :D

  • @regszikora The HMCS Huron went down the way a Warship should.

  • @regszikora At least the HMCS Huron went down the way a warship should. It was a good "death".

  • How many tonnes of steel lie on the bottom of the oceans, and some of you say it's much better than recycling it. Oh right.....there is no unemployment in the states, and abroad right now is there, and there are no abandoned steel factories, and steel towns are there? Getting my point here. No wonder you americans are trillions in debt, jobless, foreclosed on, and having a potential government shutdown. Will be odd to have the Chinese as our southern neighbours very soon. They own you.

  • Sadly the HMCS Frazer is now in Dunnville, Ontario where I live and she is being turned into scrap. This is a much more honourable death than what is in store for the HMCS Frazer. I seen her yesterday all shock up and I might add ugly. At least the HMCS Huron went down in glory

  • I was on there from 89- 92 as well. Fond memories of the circumnavigate tour with great stops in the Bahrain, Qatar and UAE. Who could forget the Gibraltar fiasco that got us all a little time off in a really crazy place. Glad to see a lot of positive comments on here. She was a great lady.

  • I remember watching this the day they sunk her. Considering her sisters are still in service, sinking the Huron was a disgusting waste of taxpayers money/government asset.... courtesy of the Liberal government of the time. They could have sold her.....what a waste of a good ship. Sad to see this again.

  • lol its titanic all over again!

  • I did RIMPAC '90 on her. Fantastic trip. Great memories. Anyone else on that trip?

  • i learned about this at air cadets, im probably one of the youngest people to even know what this s =]
