who says punks want talent? they dont want it they dont need it, some have it and ignore it. of course metal didnt come from punk, but "death metal" came from thrash which came from speed mixed with... PUNK. i'll give ya the fact that punk is 3 or 4 power chords repeated, but if any of them gave a shit then they'd actually try.

@deathmetalfist Yes it does, because it's a PARODY OF PUNK. The reality is, the singer and main writer of the album, Devin Townsend, has music more along the lines of Extreme Death Metal than punk. Listen to "Happy Camper" or "Detox" or "Shitstorm" or "Skeksis" or "Consequence" or "Relentless" by Strapping Young Lad, and you'll notice something - he is NOT punk. Happy Camper even talks crap on punk. You're ignorant and don't belong in the presence of something Townsend has done without wising up

FWIW, Punk Rock and Metal pretty much developed separately from common sources. Of course, as they evolved, there was quite a lot of crossover. But arguing over genres of music is pretty stupid. You like what you like - why get so hung up on pigeon holes?
