I've got a D50 and had my hands on a D40/D60 the other day...
Hands down, I prefer the D50.

Though the D50 is the older Model form Nikon, It is one of the best performing cameras that Nikon has ever made! Spending Thousands on Newer Models is a waste of Money, but some people just like to think "they have the best"....I compared some shots I took with my D50 and compared it with a D3, D5100, D3100, 7D and you could not tell the difference on which cam took what photo! I was just blown away and glad that I didn't follow the crowd and spend $1200 on another "D"...lol

lol d50 is bigger and older than d40 but its better dude !

d70 is much bigger and better then both.

This is old. Don't buy a D50 now. The high ISO performance in newer cameras far exceeds the D50. As does newer metering etc.

I like d50 because of the info screen on the top kinda is a nice touch. Also theyre cheaper to buy on like ebay .
I do know the song is by seether. Its a popular song so it should come up if you look up seether

if your looking for compact why would you use a dslr in the first place? i mean, i carry 4 different lenses with it anyway so compact is not a concern .

d50's are much better because they have the auto-focus motor whereas the d40 doesn't, you are limited with your lens choice. the d50 also has the control panel which the d40 lacks
