I now know why abandoned pools are simultaneously fascinating, creepy and frightening:

They look like giant, gaping monstrous mouths waiting to swallow you. Much like a giant shark or whale, the inside of the gaping maw is simply a scary sight. Once you go in, there's no getting out.

Even though you can escape these pools, it would be FRIGHTENING to actually fall into one. Don't know if that made sense to anybody.

Cool vid. But people like you shouldn't be allowed to use the "blur" effect. You could only make out the pictures you used it on for a split second, then it was 6 seconds of blur.

@Joelomite You should look up Pripyat Swimming pool. Its in Call of Duty 4 I think, but its in an abandoned city. Everybody had to evacuate from a nuclear meltdown at a power-plant in 1986. Its really creepy but really cool!

@ 0:37 That pool was in a deserted city in Pripyat Ukraine. There was a big meltdown at a nuclear power-plant and every body had to evacuate! This was in 1986 I think. The entire city is completely abandoned and has been completely unoccupied since! Search Pripyat Swimming Pool. Its really cool!

Is that the Empire pool in cardiff at 0.20? I learned to swim there. have a look at the ultimate abandoned pool on google earth, now filled in but at the time of the pic it was in all it's abandoned glory, the Knap pool at barry

The forst pool isn't abandoned, thats the one at Builtmore Estate in Asheville NC.

@Joelomite it makes so much sense to me! I cant beleive there are others out there like me! I swam competitively so Im not afraid of water... but there is SOMETHING about pools...I cant explain it! Even if I was the last in the pool during practice I would almost panic! Maybe I feel so vulnerable becuase I cant move fast while in the water?? Even being in one that is empty still gives me the creepiest feeling...yet they fascinate me and I collect pics of them!
