  • Channel 7 (as WNEV) started an hour-long 5 pm newscast in September 1987. It was scaled back to 30 minutes (at 5:30) from 1991 until 1993, due to New England Television Corp. making massive programming cutbacks for budgetary reasons. After Sunbeam bought Channel 7, they reinstated an hour of news at 5:00 when their new format premiered in November 1993.

  • Another triangle, specific sound effect, imagery & influence, shock troop media. Guess we know who's idea this was...

  • "Live on 4" ended in 1990, they now had Eyewitness News at 5. And then in 1994, they decided to move the 5pm news to 5:30. It was in 1995 they only then had an hour-long 5pm newscast. Heck, in fact, I think channel 7 was the first one to start a 5pm hour-long newscast, and that wasn't until 1993! Sad for a major market, like Boston.

  • 5:30, I thought "Live on 4" ran in that time slot.

  • No, by this time Maury had his daytime talk show. Maureen O'Boyle would have hosted this.

  • Was this the time when Maury Povich hosted this show?
