Channel 7 (as WNEV) started an hour-long 5 pm newscast in September 1987. It was scaled back to 30 minutes (at 5:30) from 1991 until 1993, due to New England Television Corp. making massive programming cutbacks for budgetary reasons. After Sunbeam bought Channel 7, they reinstated an hour of news at 5:00 when their new format premiered in November 1993.

Another triangle, specific sound effect, imagery & influence, shock troop media. Guess we know who's idea this was...

"Live on 4" ended in 1990, they now had Eyewitness News at 5. And then in 1994, they decided to move the 5pm news to 5:30. It was in 1995 they only then had an hour-long 5pm newscast. Heck, in fact, I think channel 7 was the first one to start a 5pm hour-long newscast, and that wasn't until 1993! Sad for a major market, like Boston.

5:30, I thought "Live on 4" ran in that time slot.
