Who's Poor Today?

In this webinar, we'll examine the most recent Census Bureau data on poverty in the U.S., paying special attention to the ways in which rates vary by age, race, gender, and geography. We'll also examine the brand-new Supplemental Poverty Measure and see how it differs, and how that affects the ways in which poverty appears to be distributed throughout the population. With this thorough sense of who is living in poverty today, participants will be asked to consider how this knowledge might impact their VISTA service; they will also be prepared to consider the causes of poverty, and how those causes vary, the subject of our next webinar.
