Here we are at Croton-Harmon, where we see a yard crew start up Genesis P32ACDM 210, having just been fueled. I am standing on the Track 4 platform, and the Genesis is on the fuel pad nearest the station. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on March 18th, 2009.

  • Doesn't sound like they're starting the locomotive, but rather taking it out of "no mode" and switching it into "diesel mode". "No mode" idles the engine at around 300 rpm and provides no HEP to the coaches.

  • to save on fuel costs and maintenance, cant they just run it to grand central on third rail?

  • they still use third rail there?
