is this the track over by pacific junction? if so, cool. i've been thinking about going over there sometime this eason but i have a v65 magna, not much of a track bike but could still be fun. from the interstate it looks like a small track but that straight away looks fun.

Ivan's performance sells a electronic device called the FCE (fuel cutoff eliminator). Easy to install and makes the on-off throttle transition smooth. I have this mod and it made all the difference in ridability.

"Too focused on braking & hitting the turn-in point from that speed." That makes loads of sense. I am aware of the downshift in a turn issue, but I can't imagine you were in any serious danger doing that in this situation. The revs were plenty low when you chose to do so, no? Is it more an issue of trying not to learn a bad habit? Last question, have you ever gone through a school? I've been looking at a two day thing myself so I have some access to a coach/instructor.
The v-65 would be more suited for fast Fridays at the 1/8 mile drag strip at that facility. I'm going to try my bike there some day just for fun. The v-65's have a VERY high center of gravity due to their tall v-4 engine design & they are also notorious for being "twitchy" and difficult to control at high speed, so I wouldn't recommend taking it out on the track. My FZ1 isn't a great track bike, but it gave me just enough experience to get me hooked!

Nice. I just started track days at MAM last summer. I bought an 01 gixer 750 track bike but I own a red 06 FZ1 for the street. I would love to take it out on the track. Can I just tell everyone that this is my video? ha ha
My FZ1 has all Ivan's mods, does yours have any? Is the speedo correct?
thanks.
Will you be at Moto Mondays this year?

No mods on my FZ1. After my 1st track day on the FZ1, I started looking for a track bike. Bought an '05 gsxr 1000. The FZ1 is pretty scary to ride compared to the gixxer. I have no desire to ever put my FZ1 back on the track. Haven't done any Moto Mondays. I normally do 2 NESBA days each year. One @ MAM & one at Topeka. Snow is starting to melt! I hope to be back on the track in May!

Good running FZ1 you have. Look at that baby go from 8,000 rpm up. That is an FZ1 for ya!
Glad you had fun. I have only done a few track days and still have to remember to breathe.
Roll her on smoother. It will lower your stress level :)

I did one track day on my FZ1 & then bought a 2005 GSXR 1000. A lot more bike & easier to ride. One of the many things I didn't like about the FZ1 for track days was the rough on/off throttle transition. I've had 3 more track days now & things flow a lot better. I still have a lot to learn but track days with NESBA are some of the best days all summer!

Down the front straight, do you know why you didn't downshift earlier? I'm totally with you on the learning thing and being on track is different than being able to look at everything in hindsight. Downshifting in that instance just seems like it would be second nature. Not judging you, just trying to learn with you.

Too focused on braking & hitting the turn-in point from that speed. It was one of the many things I saw on review that looked scary. You want to select a gear that you can complete & exit the turn you are approaching and downshift to it before starting your turn-in. By changing gears late or in the turns you are a lot more likely to slide the rear tire. Luckily, it didn't bite me that day. That was one of the more serious technique changes I made for my 2nd day in Topeka.
