Painting a Painting with Michael Shapcott No. 6
"The Girl and the Owl"
Graphite, Acrylic, Oil on Canvas
24"x30"

FYI the beginning of the video is supposed to be quirky and fun. It really has nothing to do with the painting except to suggest that I was thinking about owls :P

Thanks to Melissa and Alley for playing along with my shenanigans.

Music (in order):
Slim Harpo, "Strange Love"
Arcade Fire, "No Cars Go"
Peter Bjorn and John, "Detects on my Affection"
Sparta, "While Oceana Sleeps"

  • yet another awesome piece by you micheal!

fantastic stuff!...we love your vids and cant wait for the next 1.

(BTW- what are the yellow things under the owl?)

    cheers!

  • @Cre8iveSignWorks Thanks! They are supposed to suggest flowers/tulips but they can be anything really. Someone thought they were rocks and I kind of like that too. lol. And a new video is already in the works! :)

  • What is it that you are working on? It's not canvas is it? Is it primed board or something?

  • @JessisKnoll Actually it is canvas. I prime my canvases with a gesso/acrylic mix and then begin the graphite work.

  • AMAZING! Do you use the photos in the backround as a reference for the faces you draw?

  • @czack17 Thanks so much! No, I found a feature or quality I liked in each one and most of them are just there for inspiration. :)
