  • Your work is just beautiful. Beeswax and/or encaustics are not compatible with acrylics, gesso, gel mediums, etc. They do not make a permanent bond. It may not peel off for a long time, but eventually the layers come off and the work is definitely not archival.

  • Interesting --- you are the 2nd person today telling that acrylics are not compatible nor gel medium ...

I have had no problems so far with adhesion ... will keep an eye out for it ..thanks for commenting

  • That's beautiful. Question: Do you start out with an idea in mind or does it develop as the work progresses?

    I enjoyed watching you create.

  • Thanks so much for the inspiration & ideas! Great job!

  • @tubeofyou Video quality is very good in my opinion.

  • Nice work and very interesting..... I like it!!!

  • PS video quality is very poor and difficult to see, as well as not being very helpful even if you DID show the beeswax being applied.

  • SO DISAPPOINTING. Do not bother making a procedural example of a beeswax collage if you are not going to include the critical step that is included in the title. Not helpful at all. I agree with the comments about the fabric and that beeswax is not archival with acrylics, gel medium, etc. You would know more about technical details if you had not been only self-trained. Just because you can stick one surface on another doesn't make it archival.

  • I think it is a lovely collage...but I have no idea when the beeswax was used ??

  • I agree, seems like alot of steps could be eliminated in these types of projects. I think that most of the artists say the extra stuff glued on underneath is for "texture"

  • I had exactly the same thought. The fabric was okay, and the placement too, but in the end you could only see the lines of the edges of the pieces of fabric. Not even the structure of the fabric ON the pieces. That's too bad.

Nice work. You have a great hobby!

  • so why is it called a beeswax collage?
