This is a montage of clips documenting the process of teaching my k-2 students the first hiphop rhymes about our class. Our Substantially Separate Autism/PDD class at Haggerty Elementary School in Cambridge was called the PLC (Primary Learning Center). We co-opted the name to mean Proud Learner Crew and the class learned about the culture and rules of their new classroom through rhyme.
"So Much Drama in the PLC"
So much drama in the PLC,
Working hard practicing Cool Down with Mr. B.
But - Somehow. Someway.
We all keep Following the Schedule
Nearly every single day.
May I say a little something about the 3's?
We've got 3 Rules 3 Cool Down Numbers 3 Responsibilities.
I've got my Body Control.
My voice is quiet not loud.
On the schedule listening my mom and daddy are proud.
Mr. Clarke/Roberts, Ms O'Brien help me reach my goals.
On the schedule listening just like my kitchen's got bowls.
My friends all listen on the schedule with control like my friend Santa Clause's Chillin in the North Pole.
So - Whatcha Wanna Earn???
While you try your best at school, take your turn to learn.
That's why we sit at desks and earn what's next.
Practice Cool Down with your friends,
You will pass the test.
Adam, Chedro, Cliff, Khamari, Ishmael are the best!
