Democracy Now! Friday January 8, 2010
Gay rights groups around the world are praising the United States for lifting a twenty-two-year ban that barred foreigners who have HIV from legally entering the country without an official waiver. The United States was one of only about a dozen countries that barred people who have HIV. On Thursday, Clemens Ruland of Holland became one of the first known HIV-positive people to legally visit the United States since the travel ban was lifted. In a Democracy Now! exclusive interview, Clemens Ruland joins us in our studio along with his partner, Hugo Bausch, and Boris Dittrich, the LGBT advocacy director at Human Rights Watch.

  • Youre worrying about something that is so so unlikely to happen, and forgetting about common causes of fatalities on flights, like DVT? (Which is where the old liberal ''scum'' yoga comes in handy, peace :)) And maybe that hiv positive man on the flight, the one next to the small child? Maybe he is a doctor or nurse who works in hospital (on non invasive wards) saving lives, eh? That's happening every day in hospitals all over the world, a lot more than your scenario is imho.

  • @BornSoulSik88 Most people who know they are hiv positive -and- well enough to travel via plane (which is what this video is about) are already in treatment, and in good health, so will be very uninfectious. HIV is actually a lot less infectious than most people think.

Also, a crash like you describe, the Hollywood scenario, with the stereotypical hiv positive male gushing blood onto a hiv negative small child sat next to him...........well..........I can't remember the last time I heard of it.

  • @orwellreturning so if there were an accident or an emergency and the hiv + guys blood gets all over YOU! and a small CHILD sitting next to him, arent you glad people like YOU helped to put a HIV+ person on a public transportation? what about wrecks? dont bodily flutids SPRAY in ALL directions? and cant HIV be spread thru blood? oops for you dumb-ass liberal skkkum! 88!

  • @P1mpMyBr1de Why? No one has ever become infected with HIV from sitting next to an HIV positive person. Nor from sharing towels, bedding, cutlery, cups, toilet seats, etc. etc. He seems like a personable, intelligent and thoughtful bloke. I would happily sit next to him. Facts not fear folks :)

  • I fly to the US from Holland also. He's not fucking sitting next to me!

  • Il était temps ,n'est ce pas grand peuple de vainqueurs ..Valeurs de sous-homme en fait maintenus sous la coupe d'élite mondialiste coorporatiste ,merci de ce reportage ENORME !!! merci
