Removed Phosphate coating by soaking it in paint thinner for 6 hours. Used a flathead screw driver to remove thick top layer then different grit sandpapers to take care of the rest. Next step is to re profile the edge and force a patina using spicy mustard which worked well on my Mora Companion. Love the look of this knife!

  • that coating Ontario put on there is to protect the 1095 steel from rusting from just sitting in the sheath....looks good, but, you are going to have to oil that blade every day.
