The fact that they have resisted complete assimilation as other groups have and are attributed to killing the figurehead of the biggest and most powerful religion of the past is more than enough to explain the persecution and expulsion.

It is true that a lot of the assholes on top are Jewish, but Jews want nothing more than for everyone to be themselves (unlike other peoples who want to conquer the world and kill whoever disagrees with them).
