  • As an American i love the UK and the Falklands are British Rip to the men killed and to HMS ANTELOPE.

  • @TheIceman567 Thank you for your support,it is very welcome.

I have a soft spot for many things USA.

  • yeah, my uncle was the Chief Royal Engineers of the ship

  • @chazzer58 Has he seen this tribute?

  • My uncle was one of the men that went to defuse the bomb. The video is wrong it says only 2 men went down, it was 3 and my uncle was the head engineer.

  • @chazzer58 Was your uncle one of the ships company?

Because it was two Royal Engineers that attempted to defuse the bomb.

They were assisted by two of Antelope's senior engineers...so it was four men.

The videos are very short and I have to limit the text I use.

It does not say "only 2 men"............but I take your point.

  • @chazzer58 my father is one of the pilots who bombarded it, but my respects to all combatants in the war.

  • We lost a family frien in war, a figther pilot. His squadron sunk the Antelope. The aviator named Luciano Guadagnini crashed the Antelope when bombing and bomb hit the ship as well. Was war time, hero time. The paint are from Ezequiel Martinez from Argentina Air Force (Love his paints, also check for Carlos Garcia).

Ironic, an USA figther and a UK bomb.

Friend of my family "1st LT Fausto Gavazzi" damaged the Glasgow, his bomb made a hole in both sides of the ship.

    I respect all brave warriors...

  • R.I.P to all of those whom gave their lives for the freedom of the Falklanders.

  • See Wiki for the complete story.

"One of the bombs was inaccessible because of wreckage; the other had been damaged and was thought to be in a particularly dangerous condition. Three attempts by the EOD team to withdraw the fuse of this bomb by remote means failed. A fourth attempt, using a small explosive charge, led to the detonation of the weapon, killing Staff Sergeant James Prescott instantly and severely injuring Warrant Officer Phillips, the other member of the EOD team."

  • Thank you for posting all these videos NAIAD49.

  • priviledged to have sailed out of Devonport on Alacrity with stinking hangover from half a night In boobs she was a fighting Fourth ship

  • I was yomping up a hill looking over HMS Antelope when the explosion happened.

I had a jerry can of water on my back to resupply a Obersation Post. Seeing this terrible tragedy unfold i simply forgot the weight on my back. We did hear later that day that a RN Engineer had been with 2 RE specialists attempting to defuse the bomb.

  • Thanks, I was one of the crew on board at the time and one of the bombs went through my locker, bed etc fortunately I was at action stations at the time.... appreciate the video.

  • Thanks for this, I too was one of the crew on board at the time and I appreciate the video.

  • ... so my respect to your Uncle and more other brave warriors in past, present and future wars.
