Renfe talgo train pulled by an old Krauss-Maffei diesel locomotive of 354 series finished its service Cartagena-Madrid and leaves Madrid Chamartin station direction shops. These series have two MTU engines developing together 4000 HP. There are few locomotives of this series left (maybe 2 or 3 of them)

  • I remember seeing "Virgen de Covadonga" at Medina del Campo in May, 1988, at the head of a Talgo bound for Salamanca. Amazing that they are still around!

  • Unfortunately thay aren't anymore in service. In the beginning there were 8 of them, but due to fatal accidents every time the class had less and less units. Finally, in 2010 there were only two units alive and I think Renfe decided to retire them.

Now the diesel locomotives pulling passenger trains are 100% class 334 (sister of UK class 67).
