Normally, God scourges people.
In Russia, Scriabin scourged God by composing the third movement of his first sonata.

@MagicSkryabin I DO like Hamelin's perfomance. And I think it's good that an interpreter chose a different speed. I only think that he must pay a certain price. You may choose to drive by a countryside at 30 or 70 miles/hr and enjoy it both ways. But it's also clear that you don't perceive the landscape in the very same way at both speed.

Wow! This is a lot faster than my recording.

Where's part IV?

That piano really suits this piece.
The treble-y low end really highlights those LH octaves.

Now that's what I call a scherzo!

I agree with you. It's annoying when somebody says that there are only one right style to play a piece.
Hi pianofolle.
I agree some people don't like Hamelin performance. But i disagree with you : we can't compare a piece of music for the piano and a song. Look with Bach preludes there is no tempo indications, so it let the pianist play it as he wishes.
And about this third movement, it is written Presto so you have to play it fast it's a scherzo style piece so this need to be violent and fast.
But it's only my opinion.
