Catholics and Protestants have so many differences they look like different religions.
@kozmoLouie keep fighting the good fight. which is that of Our Lord Christ, our church was founded by Jesus Christ, and its ridiculous argument using the albigensians they were heretics. as others say, as long as john chapter 6 is in the bible ill remain Catholic. plus a lot of other things
@carriebrk really? so St. Paul is adressing totally independent churches? but wait they all have the same beliefs, and if they dont they are reproved and corrected right?
@KozmoLouie More like 1500, my friend. No, i am not a "david koresh" type. Are you a Pope Innocent III type who in 1208 proclaimed a crusade that killed a million Waldenses and Albigenses? or are you a Pope Urban II type who cowed France into attacking the Muslim world, throwing the region into five hundred years of religious warfare ?
@KozmoLouie - The churches in the NT were also independent churches not linked to large denominations. The 7 churches in Revelation were addressed independently, most were commended for their faithfulness, then rebuked for their error. Smyrna was not rebuked, neither was Philidelphia, which was very small but very faithful. They recieved a great promise because of it. Because of their faithfulness to the Lord. "hear what the Spirit says to the churches" hmmm. plural.
There are 34,000 separate Christian groups in the world today. Over half of them are independent churches not linked to large denominations. Differences among Protestants are so great that its best to view them as separate religions w/ different beliefs and practices, who share the name Christianity, text of the bible and not a great deal else.
@kiwichristian2009 Catholicism has a 2,000 year history. The Orthodox Church branched out in the 1200's, while the Protestants branched out in the 1500's. Over the years though Protestants kept branching out until the thousands of sects and odd ball churches we have today. Each one saying they are the true Church of Christ. Its obvious to me you belong to one of these little church groups. How Sad.
you do nto have to be a chaltic to be saved.
