This video was shot at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Calif & North Ponto Beach in Carlsbad, Calif.

    The "Red Tide" turns the ocean a shade of red during the daytime hours, and glow bright neon blue during the night. Also another little side note...I'm sure you felt cool posting your original comment, what about now?

    There is no set time for this. It takes multiple factors for the water to glow this strong. It generally happens in the fall. It can also depend on the moon, as to how well you can see it. If it does happen again this year, I recommend a beach with as little natural light as possible. Keep in mind that when this video was shot, it was the strongest red tide in almost a decade.
