Conditions on a free-range broiler chicken farm. In these systems, the chickens are given continuous access to an outdoor range during the daytime and sheds where they are housed at night. Free-range chickens grow more slowly than intensive chickens. They live at least 56 days. In the EU each chicken must have one square metre of outdoor space.

The benefits are a reduced growth rate and opportunities for natural behaviour such as pecking, scratching, foraging and exercise outdoors, as well as fresh air and daylight. Because they grow slower and and have opportunities for exercise free-range chickens have better leg and heart health and a much higher quality of life.

  • @klaptongroovemaster No one threatened to kill you, you idiot. He was making a point. You had said non-human animals could be killed and eaten because they are "dumb." He pointed out that you are dumb, but would still not want to be killed and eaten. I don't hate or discriminate against ANY species, human or non.

If we are supposed to eat animals, why are we healthier without them?

*braces for comeback regarding person klgm knows who went vegan and died or had severe nutritional deficiencies.

  • @prb1180, I don't know how to avoid eating food. People advocating that all humans should be vegetarian are really wasting their time. If you want to be vegetarian, great!

Of course I do not advocate the torture of animals nor would I want to eat such animals. I prefer eating completely free animals and do it most of the time.

  • @GetusomeTx There is a difference between complex mammals, avian etc and insects. Animals like gorillas are almost human - basic insects don't have much of a psychology at all. There is a continuum of animal life from extremely complex to basic. If you give rights to a chimpanzee it doesn't necessarily imply that ladybugs merit the same right.

  • I don't want to be a vegetarian, seriously. One, meat is way too good and gives you proteins to strengthen muscles. Two, we are omnivores, right? Third, Free range chickens ftw, (they actually taste better).

  • @84jgk No, it's not unethical for a lion to kill a zebra, as they don't know any better and they have no other option. I understand that animal exploitation causes suffering, and I have the option to live without participating in it, so I choose to cause the least suffering. I hate when people use the excuse that it's "natural" to eat animals, as it's merely an identification of a trait, rather than a reason not to change it. Nature is an observation of one's tendencies, not an ethical standard.

  • @prb1180 so you see a chicken as your equal ??? intellectually on are your part I may have to agree with you ...

  • @prb1180 Seems common sense and you are at odds take a few deep breaths and come back down to reality ...speciesist lol what a joke .....

  • @prb1180 You should eat whatever you want. I'm not the one calling someone else a murderer for their nutritional choices. And no... I don't have any anecdotal evidence to support what diet is most healthy.

If we are NOT supposed to eat animals, why are they so delicious?

  • @prb1180 The person I called a "pussy" was the one who threatened to kill me. But you have nothing to say to fucking idiots like that, do you? Oh no. Nevermind the fanatic who threatens to kill a HUMAN. You idiots who hate your own species should just do the species a favor and remove yourselves.

You are the stupid fuck who doesn't recognize your position in the food chain. Take your own advice and stop commenting. Because I can do this all day.

  • @84jgk and as far as your comment "last time I checked, we were not serving up humans on the menu," that proves my point, fool. We serve up non-human animals because we (most of us) are speciesist and believe them to be lesser than us... and they unfortunately can't tell us to stop or make laws that prevent us from taking their lives and otherwise exploiting them.
