People prefer a stylus because they don't like to get grease all over the screen, not because they can't use their fingers (and, yes, you can use your fingers).
You can turn off the mobile version (which I do).

Opera mini sucks... am I wrong?
On the iPhone it loads faster than Safari on EDGE... much faster actually. But it renders pages horribly. There's only 2 zoom levels: all the way in or all the way out. Neither are comfortable to use.
The only time I see the need to use Opera Mini on iPhone is when you're on EDGE. Even then it's frustrating.
