1889 Herman Hollerith Census Machine
The American Government requirement of conducting a Census every ten years leads to the development of Hollerith Census Machine by Tabulating Machine Company (TMC) which later change its name to International Business Machine - IBM.

You aren't kidding. I've been reading Edwin Black's book "IBM & The Holocaust" & it is more than sobering how this wonderful inventor's labor became the machine of tabulating lists of literally EVERY Jew that lived in Europe, let alone Germany. That's the answer to the forgotten question, "Where did the SS get lists of every single Jew in Europe." IBM & its CEO Thomas J. Watson doubled their investments throughout every country in Europe in the 1930's...it is beyond sad to think of.

Another machine that needed some "live" video. I still saw some HP that used punch cards in the university (called for us as "Dino Packadrs"). :)
