Why do you call it a hurdy gurdy barrel organ when it is neither?

Hello!
I own a Verbena toy barrel piano. It was missing all of the piano tone rods when I acquired it. I replaced and tuned all of the rods. Should there be any lubrication between the barrel and worm gear?
Thanks!

This is so cool!! There used to be one like this at the bottom of the "Ship Ashore Museum and Gift shop". For only a dime you could here it make awesome music through the whole ship! Every year I went there and played it...that was untill it stopped working..They never tried to fix it. I dont think they have even opened the exhibit door for an annual cleaning....since the late 70's or so..But I will never forget its roaring music that shook the old bones of the ship..Thank you for sharing this..

Very nice little instrument!
I have a large one mouldering away in my basement..... alas, it's probably too far gone already.....
Very Nice!
Why do you turn the crank on the side?
Is this for another song selection?
Thanks for sharing! You have an amazing collection!

Correct. The barrel turns one complete revolution per song. Turning the knob on the side shifts the barrel slightly to one side to play another tune.
Thanks for watching.
