HI there i saw bout 5 mins ago a utube where the guy used tinned pineapple juice to place his apples in instead of the acid .,,,,dunno if that will help ya!

Why not get an apple peeler/corer. You could have done all 6 apples in 1 minute.

I've heard you can use lemon juice, since it has tons of citric acid in it.

Knife skill: when cutting veggies or fruit cut it in half, lay the FLAT cut side down then slice. It's much easier, faster and SAFER.
