iPad vs. netbook - speed test

Most often cited is the iPad's speed, and it indeed feels very quick and responsive, and generally comes off as a powerful tool compared with a standard Netbook, which can feel sluggish even when performing the most basic tasks. These were extremely anecdotal tests, and should not be considered on par with the typical highly controlled benchmarking we do for laptops and desktops. The results are only intended to give you a broad overview of how a Netbook and the iPad compare in head-to-head competition.

The boot-up test is a bit useless. I have a netbook and I basically only leave it in sleep mode while traveling with it. I shut it off only for the night or when I don't expect to use it for a while.

Generally, I just open it up and it springs to life in a few seconds after coming out of sleep mode. A more interesting test would be between a netbook coming out of sleep mode and the iPad doing the same. I expect the iPad would be faster too, but the difference in absolute time would be small.

ipad is better for entertainment use and a netbook is better for school or business work that required word processing etc

On the developers preview for windows 8, on my netbook it takes about 20 seconds.

For Half the price a Netbook retains full productivity. The IPad is a TOY,a very nice one. The Netbook is a TOOL.

Ipad is created for fun, some little games, music, web surfing and its only for people who travels a lot and needs everytime e-mail access!

But netbook is for people who needs PC but they cant take laptop because of sizes.

Well personally I own Asus Eee Pc 1015pn and it is really better for me than Ipad.

I work on photoshop a lot, making some graphics stuff and i also need everytime access to my E-mails and Internet.

by the way, all of the heavy 3D programs run on my netbook very good.
