Read the FULL Description, please! Ok? Thanks! Bye!

Before anything, let's start with this brief description about Lua:

Lua is a powerful, fast, lightweight, embeddable scripting language.

Lua combines simple procedural syntax with powerful data description constructs based on associative arrays and extensible semantics. Lua is dynamically typed, runs by interpreting bytecode for a register-based virtual machine, and has automatic memory management with incremental garbage collection, making it ideal for configuration, scripting, and rapid prototyping.

This may be (or may be not) the thing we will talk about now, but I'll say it in short.

This game is NOT a hack! It's the original Metroid game, but I took the liberty to use a special script made in Lua, which enhances the game and takes it to a new level.

While the script is running, the game does have some nice features, that some of them are actually present in subsequent sequels (like Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion or Zero Mission), but others are completely new and exclusive to this version, including:

Equipment menu that lets you toggle powerups, including the Ice and Wave beams.
Maximum energy tanks raised from 6 to 7.
Start out with full health and missiles.
Minimap and large map on pause screen, with mouse interaction (tooltips / click elevators to navigate between areas).
Clear time and item percentage
Max missiles display
Countdowns on broken blocks
Popup boxes when you collect a powerup
Mouse input on password screen

I planned to do a normal run of this game, but when I found out about this thing, I just said "meh, let's give this a try", and here we are!

The creator of this script is Neill Corlett, and you can get the script from his website: http://www.neillcorlett.com/metroidlua/

To run Lua scripts you NEED fceux. First run the game (Find it by yourself), then run the script. Get fceux here: http://fceux.com/web/home.html

Now about my run:

This is NOT a perfect/no-miss run (I got a Game Over btw). And this is NOT a 100% items run either, although I did manage to get most of them, but not ALL of them

My run does include some waste of time due to area exploration, if you feel like skipping it to watch certain parts, feel free to do so.

Also, in certain parts of the full run, the script somewhat "glitched", keeping me from changing beams for a while, then it got back to normal.

Now that you have read all of this blah-blah-blah-battletoads (lol wut) enjoy the video!
