If you have a defective vacuum breaker with a broken off set screw, don't worry. You can still easily remove your vacuum breaker with a hack saw and a screwdriver, and you won't end up destroying the threads on your faucet. Here's how to do it. I didn't show the part where I unscrewed the vacuum breaker from the faucet with a wrench, but that's the easy part. Sorry for the out-of-focus shot on the vacuum breaker - I'm obviously quite the amateur at making videos.

  • preludedriven - I had one that made the same humming noise. It was extremely annoying.

  • Thanks for the video...I actually just tried this before finding your video but it did not work. The break-off was so close to the actual VB itself and left almost nothing exposed. I ended up drilling it out instead (and distorting part of the threads in the process). Took a bit more force, but new VB is installed. Btw the old one had to be replaced since it would make a hum sound anytime the water was turned on. Thanks again
