I think the water pump on my 2008 135i may just have died. This is the sound from engine bay after driving it home, from cold, for 12 minutes. Did this for 2-3 minutes. As I reached home the overheating indicator came on and driving became sluggish. I coasted into driveway, basically. Oil temps were very very low.

I did. Cost me $800 with labour. Was lucky I had a friend at the dealership and they sold the part for $650 instead of the $950 they really wanted.

My water pump just failed at less than 40k miles. I was two weeks out of service warranty, but they decided to cover it. This seems like a low mileage for such an issue, I heard failures at 60-90k miles. I was very upset as I had to get it towed due to limp mode almost 120miles!
