This is possibly the best 'flip' of a ballad I've ever heard. Marley Marl showed out speading up the track, laying down a nice sampled drum loop, then having the Korg M1 patches on top.
Notice the change in the rhythmic arrangement from the original from 1/16 to 1/12 quantization of "Why..Why Me Baaaby" in the chorus?
LL writes new rhythmic verses, different from the original's 'spoken word' style.
As the "I Know You Got Soul" (Eric B & Rakim) says, "This is how it should be done".
