this is just induction. higher the voltage wider the area the LED will glow. You are also within this induction field, known to cause cancer and tumors

@iwashere339 Its capacitive coupling. There is a resonance with the masses attached. Please tell me how touching the battery would change the inductance so much as to throw it out of resonance?
This video demonstrates what you said is wrong better then this one. watch?v=ymu3DjFTeEk as tilting the coils would throw off the inductive coupling.
2 phrases for you. Wide band oscillation. Near field antenna.

Thanks for a good demo and especially for the detailed notes on coil winding. Was that 3 9V batteries (27 volts) you were using to power the SEC board? What do you mean by 3 or 6 frequencies? Have you scoped the circuit and observed waveforms?

2 9v, 18 volts.
one L and one C will give you one resonant frequency. one L and 2 C will give you 2 resonant frequencies, with a third harmonic. etc. The SEC actually "transmits" a myriad of frequencies.
