TRENTON— Senator Michael J. Doherty (R-Hunterdon, Warren) and Senator James Beach (D-Camden) today announced they will present resolutions to the Senate and Assembly calling on the U.S. Congress to end TSA screening procedures requiring full body scans and pat downs at U.S. airports Their action comes in response to widespread concerns over privacy and radiation, as well as reports of inappropriate conduct by TSA agents during the screening process.

"The pursuit of security should not force Americans to surrender their civil liberties or basic human dignity at a TSA checkpoint," said Doherty. "Subjecting law-abiding American citizens to naked body scans and full body pat downs is intolerable, humiliating, vulnerable to abuse, and is fast becoming a disincentive to travel. Particularly concerning to us is the fact that physical searches result in children being touched in private areas of the body. Terrorists hate America because of the freedoms upon which this great nation was built. By implementing these screening measures, the TSA has already handed a victory to those who seek to destroy our freedoms."

  • real American HEROS

  • I'd sign the petition if I could be certain that TSA wouldn't put me on a watch list. I'm not convinced that they'd red flag me just for signing.

  • @Searching4Truth1 yeah, but you can't install million dollar machines and spend billions creating new bureaucracies to stop the other things you describe...the actual truth is much worse. Heart disease kills 400,000+ people every year in the U.S. alone. The gov't spends about $2 billion on heart disease research each year; so far we have spent over a trillion dollars on the war on terror alone. It is basically trillion dollar welfare payments to the military industrial complex.

  • Your chances of dying in a bathtub is about 1 in a million, being killed by homicide is 1 in 22,000, dying of cancer about 1 in 500, in an auto wreck about 1 in 8,000 '&' from 'terrorism' about [ 1 in 3.5 million ] per year! !

In case it isn't obvious, the real reason for all of this quite expensive security; ie, the TSA, DHS, et al, is to establish domestic surveillance & Big Brother, NOT to make us safer

TSA will never stop these attacks if executed by any kind of an intelligent person

  • GOOD legislators in my home State of NJ!? This makes no sense! I hope it's for real! Sounds good! FUCK THE TSA! Nazi, low-brow, low-IQ scum! DOWN WITH THE TSA!

  • Look the TSA cannot violate your rights unless you allow them to. What that means is that if you want to get on a corporately owned plane you have to let them search you.

However after you land you can deny their search by calmly telling them that you will regard and touching of your genitals as an assault, and as a US citizen, you have the right to move freely within your country as long as you can demonstrate proof of citizenship and have demonstrated no reasonable cause to be detained.

  • these are not PROCEDURES, they are not a form of SCREENING - this is outright MOLESTATION AND RADIATION between the two forms of imprinting and brain washing to dumb us down.

if anyone off the street did any of this to any of you it would be grounds to file charges of molestation and torture regarding that forced radiation on people. this is what nazi germany was like. hitler would be very proud of amerika today.

stand up and resist and DEMAND YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BACK!

  • Good jog New Jersey Legislators ! : )

  • See...the Tea Party needs to take note, this is what bipartisanship looks like.

  • Those who created these invasive technology and procedures are clearly VIOLATING the 4th Amendment, so why aren't they being jailed??? Why don't they and their families go through the pat downs and full body scanners??? I would like to see them go through this humility and see how they feel afterwards, and speak to the press after seeing their families being violated.
