This 1900 built lighthouse doesn't normally receive any sun rays, due to it facting north on a very steep slope. It is not a very nice location on a dark windy drizzly day as I found out a few years back, but on a sunny day, the 45 minute downhill walk from Countisbury car park, and 50 minute uphill walk back very is very pleasant. There are signs up warning people about going on a windy, stormy day.

Unusually the lens rotates anti-clockwise, only 1 of 3 in the UK. From this location it is possible to see other lighthouses- Nash Point, Mumbles, and Flatholm. The land opposite the lighthouse is Wales.

The 'pole' you see just off the headland is an experimental tidal turbine- imagine an upturned wind turbine ( http://www.reuk.co.uk/Worlds-First-Open-Sea-Tidal-Turbine.htm ).

As this was filmed on a windy day (even making my tripod wobble) I have replaced the sound of wind with a tune off a CD I got with the cat food a few years back!

More about the lighthouse can be found at http://www.trinityhouse.co.uk/interactive/gallery/lynmouth_foreland.html
