This is, possibly, Scotland's most famous glen (valley) which is renowned for being the scene of the infamous massacre by a contingent of army soldiers (Campbells) of thirty plus members of Clan MacDonald.

Of no less importance is the stunning scnery comprising steep sided mountains which attracts walkers and climbers. Local wildlife includes red deer, wild cat, and golden eagle.

There is a local museum in the village whilst a mile or so away from the village is an excllent visitor centre run by the National Trust which offers useful insights into the local flora, fauana, geology, ecology-and the famous massacre.
