On October 21, 2005, he became the sole recipient of all five first prizes at the 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, taking First Prize and the polonaise, mazurka, sonata, and concerto prizes. According to ABC News, one of the judges, Professor Piotr Paleczny, said that Blechacz "So outclassed the remaining finalists that no second prize could actually be awarded." Another judge, the distinguished Irish pianist John O'Conor, said "He is one of the greatest artists I have had a chance to hear in my entire life".
Here is a summary of the awards ceremony, and a special edition of the Polonaise N ° 6.
It's really a magnificent performance worthy of a virtuoso...

  • I am really disappointed about 2010 chopin competition.....

  • @YunZinLee Possibly this was because Rafal Blechacz in 2005 was so outstanding, leaving far behind its competitors. Practically he was the only center of attention, praise and all prizes (read the comments gave the Piotr Paleczny and the John O'Conor, both members of the jury) By contrast in 2010 a competition was more "normal", with students hardworking, skilled and similar to each other in their technical level. It may take many years to appear again another "illuminated" as Blechacz .

  • @Marcelo721 are you pianist? I am surprised that you answers at my opinion very carefully

  • @YunZinLee Thanks for appreciating my comment ... Greetings

  • so...... how much money did he make?

  • @YunZinLee And I'm really dissapointed about that it seems that there's not many people who appreciate music like that in my generation (so called "young generation") in Poland.

  • Perfekcyjne!!! A teraz pójdę się popłakać, bo nigdy tak nie zagram, ok? :D

  • Very beautiful music Rafal. You have so much talent, talent that will take you far in your career. I hope one day to see and hear you in person. May God bless you.
