From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. http://storyofstuff.org

And, for all you fact checkers out there, http://www.storyofstuff.org/2011/03/1...

The thing about computers only changing one chip is wrong, there is some truth in it, but there are valid reasons behind why you can't fit new processors in old motherboards, or new ram in old motherboards, or whatever.

Although she is pointing out a lot of flaws and she has to be oversimplifying a lot of issues, she does not give any alternatives. She mentions sustainability and equity, but gives no examples of how these can be employed. It brought my attention to these issues, but this video makes me lose hope rather than believe that this system can be changed..

Finding the error is the first step to correcting it.

Well i guess the solution is taking responcibility.

I know it would be easier to get told how to, but some things you need to work out on your own....there is no magic simple solution to it all.

I'm still using Word 2003 for Mac. Does everything I need! Still use iMovie 6.7. Much better than iMovie 11.but soon I shall not be able to do this.

The base problem is probably that the motherboard itself is physically limited to how much information it can handle, and how quickly it can handle it. Making a motherboard that would let you swap parts out to such an extreme that you never have to change motherboards might be possible, but it wouldn't be easy.

You are right of course but I guess the argument is, why doesn't some smart person design them so that you "can" just update your chip and not the whole machine. I'm sure it couldn't be that hard.

Good video, unfortunately some people just won't get it and will end up killing us all

I believe the only way to understand this is to see your child being born with a disability caused by our environment which is caused by all of us.
