Jerry Way Biography:

Singer/guitarist/songwriter Jerry Way has wowed audiences with his voice/guitar and original songs for nearly a half a century. He grew up on a Wisconsin farm with a musical family, and was playing the guitar at age 10. He retired from teaching in the Chippewa Falls schools a few years ago, and has devoted his time to writing music, directing plays and producing musical/dramatic celebrations of local history. As part of these productions, Jerry assembled a vocal/instrumental group called The Swampers who have performed at various venues including the Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls. They sing Jerry's original songs - including No Silica Sand Plant.

  • @rbmcdonald I offer to you several ideas. Users of sand will go where they can to purchase sand. If not in Dunn County, they will go elsewhere, even overseas. You are not going to stop them.

You also are not going to stop those who wish to make a living mining and selling sand, which is legal and legitimate, just because you personally don't like it's use. Using the argument that frac'ing is questionable, is just conjecture on your part.

  • why don't you bleeding heart, tree hugging libs go out to wall street and protest. I've got 40 acres in Dunn county and will welcome the chance at optimizing MY lands potential! Sounds like some folks are jealous that people might actually get some use out of their land. Taxes are out of control and if I can off set them, I will. Unless you want to pay my property taxes, mind your own business.

  • well said... What a foolish idea to even consider 'approval' of this without public voice.

  • Wonderful job with this song, Jerry, and great posting, Eric! It says what most citizens are saying and thinking in Chippewa Falls, WI. We want our City Council to take action to stop this plant and all the mines from coming into Chippewa Co. The special sand should not be used for hydraulic fracturing industry due to the highly questionable environmental factors associated with the process.
