A Scanner Darkly is a novel written by Philip K. Dick. He wrote this right after he left rehabilitation from drug use.

This book strangely felt familiar because I too lived a drug life for about four years. It's been two years since I did anything.

Anyways, I love this part and so I searched for a Audiobook so I can share it with everyone.

Also, the art is from the first edition of the book. I think that's his own art if I'm not mistaken. I think that's the case because he wasn't famous and a lot of authors tend to make their own covers. So here's what it looks like:

  • Thanks for the comment, CraftChest.

  • Max had a drug problem?

Sorry to hear about that dude... glad to see that you've knocked it off.

Anyway, nice little excerpt. I don't think I've ever thought of uploading something from an audiobook.

  • I think it's a good idea to post excerpts from random books.

  • It is an amazing book, especially if you've lived that life. And the description of that life in this book is done so perfectly, so eerily accurate that it draws you in. I myself identified myself as Freck, and admit to crying several times during the book, such as what he says about Janis Joplin and 'All is Loneliness'. This book isn't just another anti-drug movie, its feels more like an autobiography of a sad man consumed by addiction and paranoia. Also, this is one of my fave scenes too :)

  • I just finished reading this book. It was the greatest book I've ever read. I'm kinda surprised I didn't get it taken away from me in school (I'm 14).
