First Sporadic-E of the year!

On January 4, 2010, at around 1100UTC we had the first Sporadic-E of the year here in Sofia, Bulgaria, with stations coming with strong signal from Northern Italy, Switzerland, Southern Germany and Eastern France.

This was really something out of the ordinary and it's the first time since I am DX-ing that I see an E-skip in the middle of winter. The season here usually starts around the mid-May, peaking in June and early July, and can last until late October.

Another unusual thing was the wide area covered by this E-skip - from the extreme northeast of Italy (957 km.) to central France (1719 km).
