I agree but to be fair it`s also work the same way around;, without American Idol, Kelly would not have gotten the initial exposure she needed and deserved.

without kelly ......there is no American idol brand.......and...in a few years...it will all be over ...American IDOL is Kelly clarkson......without her...there are no other idols.

Thank you. I still fail to understand why my comment received "too many" negative votes. The only thing I can imagine in explanation is that some of Kelly's fans (remember, fan is short for "fanatic") have a religious zealot adoration of her, and saying anything about Kelly or her performances not 100% in adoration is to defile "their deity." Such devotion to any thing or any one is always scary.

I certainly connected with Kelly singing "My Country Tis of Thee" at the inauguration.

The reason you feel this way is probably because she didn't pick the song herself - it was picked for her by the judges. Although she does sing it well, she may not have connected with it like she did with the songs she got to pick herself. I still love this performance and her either way. <3 If you want to hear something with angst from Kelly that's genuine, listen to Because of You. She wrote the song herself and sang it beautifully.

Thanks for your comment. I must say, I'm surprised to see that my comment was removed for receiving too many negative votes. I do not know what I said that people would find offensive. I guess that Kelly Clarkson attracts a lot of fanatics who, if one does not profess and share their obsession, is not considered a valid human being. If we can't even get along while having different tastes in music, how have we ever survived having different religious, political or economic beliefs?

That's because she was only early 20s back then and probably didn't have the life experience of love lost to help it come out in the performance.
