Translated very roughly as something like:
"Because that's the future"

This song was originally written for Macross 2, and made it into the real Macross universe by being part of the Galaxy Network Charts in Macross 7. In a few of the episodes you can hear it being played on the radio or what not.

To me, this is almost the perfect pop song. The only thing it's missing is perhaps a guitar solo - but the production value is brilliant. The music is enchanting and the vocalist's voice really suits the music.

as you said this song was written for macross II and this song appears in the original soundtrack but i can't recall where was used in macross II

That's correct. But even though it was written for it, it sadly wasn't used. Personally I think it would have made a better opening.

It was used extensively in Macross 7, though.

Stylistically, it's more similar to the stuff in Macross 2, right?
