  • I am Sandy Powell's great grandaughter and I am sat here reading all the lovely comments to my Nana (Sandy's daughter) which has made her Christmas. It's so nice to see that Sandy is fondly remembered after all these years :-)

  • Great happy song : )

  • I would like to know if Sandy's son Peter is still alive. I knew Peter when he was an assistant film editor and also when he was in concert party on Barry Island. We were

good friends at the time but lost touch years ago. Hoping you can help me. best wishes, Peter Pitt

  • when i was a kid in the early sixties i had a wind up columbia gramerphone and on the rex record lable was sandy powel singing dr sandy it tickled me all my mates said i was a square just shows you how much they knew

  • Like many of the best comics Sandy Powell was not a comedian, but had the knack of playing a character to perfection, and then made the character funny by close observation of the quirks and oddities he gave them. His awful ventriloquist was a classic, unique and so well acted, and the act lasted till he retired just before his death, working well into old age. A great turn............much missed.

  • I'm an American actor in Boston, with a considerable interest in British comedians of the 30's (I grew up in an English school in Brazil) -- Powell's timing and personality to me seems remarkable; I hope someone can post more of his work on YouTube -- There's no other way for US viewers to see his and others like him.

  • It would be great if someday we could have a better quality transfer, but this is great: perhaps one of the finest, most helpful musical sketches ever found in film. It is a good cheer and "good philosophy", indeed. Thank you Mr. Powell....

  • BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT

  • One of Rotherham's finest, we do produce some gems, not forgetting the Chuckle Brothers and Paul Shane

  • CAN YOU HEAR ME MOTHER ?

One of the all time greats
