Speed Racer The Next Generation: The Beginning builds on the adventures of the original series by focusing on Speed's orphaned son as he juggles school life at the Racing Academy while uncovering secrets behind his father's disappearance. The new chapter of Speed Racer utilizes a cutting-edge style of animation inspired by the original series, while incorporating topical storylines like the pursuit of a car built with a gasless engine. The movie features Peter Fernandez (as Headmaster Spritle) - the voice of Speed Racer in the classic TV series and the man responsible for the lyrics of original Speed Racer theme song. The DVD (out May 6th) includes an interactive racing game and the "Creating The Next Speed Racer" featurette.

Speed Racer The Next Generation: The Beginning sets up and launches the new animated half-hour TV series which airs Fridays at 7pm ET on Nicktoons Network; and also coincides with the Warner Bros. live-action feature film which hits theatres on May 9th.

  • Thanks for the post. Chim-Chim rocks!

  • If they don't repent of their sins and psychically embrace some invisible man in the sky, the team of Japanese artists who produced the original Speed Racer will be forced to watch this version in Hell for all eternity...

  • LOST HERO is (imo) very reminiscent to one of the early Lotus Esprits

  • He's so cute!!!!

  • So why did they kill Speed and Trixie? If Speed is his dad shouldn't Spritle or a next of kin have gotten custody?

Man they raped the mythos with this.

  • Who cares about that movie any way.

Overall, it was only a sad excuse to create a CGI movie. I would love to see real stunts and explosions rather than some lame-ass CG environments.

The only thing I could even consider "true to the original series" is that they didn't fuck up Pops Racer.

And call me what you will pommy, it just goes to show whose more childish

  • The movie was huge in Japan, they obviously loved it, and it IS true to the series, so don't take usual elitist-scum shit. The CORE HOME-GROWN AUDIENCE LOVED THE MOVIE, YOU, A YANKIE WANKER, DIDNT

  • why do speed keep making this face =3 lol he must really like it!

  • Nickelodeon and Hollywood turned Speed Racer for what it was in to utter shit.

Aside from the CGI parts, the overall animation looks like a half-assed Adobe Flash project. The story line makes no sense what so ever and the idea of having a Mach 6 is absolute rubbish. The setting using a future-like premise doesnt work either since the original Speed Racer took place in the 60s. Wouldnt it fit better in a modern day setting if Speed's dad is the original Speed Racer? I recommend, DONT WATCH

  • People, if you've ever seen a picture of the guy who voices X, (Robbie Subblett) HE LOOKS LIKE THE REAL LIFE VERSION OF X!!!! the hair style and color, even their eyes look so similar!!
