My school is holding tryouts for this play, and this exact video is one of the links the teacher used for us to learn the lines and learn how to sing it for the audition if we pick this song to do. :)

The lyrics in the movie are a little diffrent than the brodway musical. I just did a production of the pajama game based off the brodway musical

Poor Babe. All she wanted to do was eat her apple.

I think in the forties and fifties a LOT of attention was paid to perfection in vocal delivery, much more than today.
I absolutely HATE musicals, but Doris made me watch this with delight. Her timing was, as always, perfect and her acting was unusually natural for these days. She literally put life into the lyrics.
I've seldom seen a moviestar ooze so much charisma. I'm getting more fan by the minute.
Never an Oscar. There's something awfully wrong with that Acadamy.

@SingingFool123 I think if you were used to modern musicals were people open there mouths to sing and a computer generated vocal comes out then yes, this could be viewed as bad singing. What I like about it is that the imperfection of her voice is part of what makes it so beautfiful. I also like that in legitimate musical theatre the perfomers put their character into the singing, like here everyone is not singing perfectly, but would you expect a group of women in a factory to be great singers?

people on here really need to just calm down. anyone with EARS can hear that they are bad. musical theatre "nerd" or not. yes i am aware doris day was great yeah, whatever, i'm just saying that CLEARLY here, she was not. and also the theory of "if factory workers can't sing" then musicals shouldn't be written bc then NO character would be able to sing, so that is just plain stupid. sorry.

@SingingFool123 "CLEARLY" most people disagree with you, or nobody would watch this video. You're free to express your opinion, but please do it in a nice way. Your comment is rude, and although I disagree with it, nobody has attacked you over your opinion. So, why are you leaving yet another negative comment? If you don't like it, don't watch it, and please don't comment again. Thank you in advance.

@SingingFool123 Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I completely disagree! Back then, I think that people put a lot more heart and soul into their singing than they tend to now. Now it's all about perfect technique and perfect vibrato, but a lot of times it seems like people aren't paying attention to the message of the song. I'm 19, and I would have LOVED to have lived in the 1940's/50's. But, to each her own!
