I totally agree with you. The Doctor is asexual, but that being true does not necessarily mean that he cannot have romantic encounters. But I'm not defending the new series, I'm just clarifying, personally I HATE Rose and all the kissing going around.

I Like the romantic development of the revived series, and I guess it was used to attract a new era of audience such as Young women and Teens, and \i think it added charm, Russel T Davies Is a fantastic writer in my oppinion, I have dreams to become a writer and his work inspires me.

One of the things I really like about the "Flying Planet Earth back home" part is that when we see those still on Earth Geoff, Sylvia and Francine seems to be scared... Whereas Luke, K9, Gwen and Ianto clearly are enjoying the ride... well... they know what's going on...

yeh i do prefer the classic and his companions then loved the right thing which was travelling in the tardis with the doctor and maybe someone else, not just loving the doctor, gud story for rose, not for martha, and loads of references were made with donna like they were a couple.

There no real problem having an emotionally based approach to doctor who. The real problem is the format of the episodes. In a one part episode, the enemy(ies) are really made to be joke. They do not come across as a threat. If they want to follow the emotional approach.... every story should be 2 parts!
This would make which ever oppenents more threatening

I aggree with Thebigbluebox, the doctor should not be having romantic encounters with a species which is really just one of his special play things.
