A lot of times now when I'm walking and there is a girl thats going in the same direction as me, I'll try and cross the street or something or pass them so they don't think I'm following them, and get scared or something. One time on my commute to school I going the same way a this woman from the train station at my house to the one by my school and some of the walk to school from the train and she thought i was following her because she kept glancing back at me. What should have i done?

You're definitely an intelligent woman. I'm a guy, and we have our own issues of personal safety, I can't imagine what girls go through. But for me, I'm often traveling on my own and for starters, I like to employ eye contact. Wherever you are, be aware of your surroundings, know who is around you, quickly identify if there is anyone you should be wary of. Look confident, be confident. Definitely get some mace, but save it for if and when you 100% know you're in danger.

When ever I see a young girl walking alone in the dark heading the same way I am heading I always try to walk either just a bit infront of her or a bit behind her depending on where I am when I see her while that may sound creepy I try to keep with her pase as to stay with her as long as I can so that nothing will happen to her because I know as long as I am there nothing will.
