  • Hi guys,

I've screwed in the gear chain all the way in, but do I then start unscrewing the chain cable until it's sticking out by 1mm?

I've done as the video instructed but the chain keeps slipping when im in second gear.

    Hope this makes sense?

  • @love4blk It sounds like maybe the chain isn't screwed all the way into the gear hub? Like that long shaft also screws into there where it enters the gear hub... That's the only thing I think of why it's sticking out too far.

  • I've got a question: what if the indicator is sticking out more 1mm? how do push it back in? It can't be by just unscrewing the barrel. Is there any pedaling and trigger changes involved? Sorry if I'm thick, but the manual and your video are a bit different about the things to do. Please help!! Thanks

  • @johnnyd5005 I have many sturmey archer on my three speed bikes and you apply this to all sturmey archer.

  • This applies to all Sturmey Archer 3 speeds regardless of year? Mine is a 1979.

  • Very clear explanation. Thanks!
