  • @diamondjo Anytime at all;-) Nearly all ferrari owners will tell you the same thing, ("the more you use it, the better it gets") I have heard stories of people buying "garage queens" = mint condition ferrari, so mint it was never used = stuck carb floats, rusted fuel tanks, dried out engine and oil seals, perished brakes and bad electrical connections = problem after problem, don't be affraid of a well used one, they run better! and check it's history very carefull, they should all have one!

  • @diamondjo Hi again, i know it's not really any of my business but is there any chance you can give me an idea of what you paid/how much for a "decent one" as not to be ripped off? Message me if you'd prefer :)

  • @spo5egy Cheers for the reply mate - i'll definitely be taking a look. I'm driving an 02 BMW Z3 2.2 sport straight 6 at the moment and around town i only get 21mpg so i'm already used to a car that likes the taste of petrol :) I must admit when you think "Ferrari", one does tend to have in mind horror stories of "A Grand for this and 3 Grand for that" etc, so to know that they are "useable" in the real world does make the idea more appealing. Thanks again mate, great info, appreciate your time.

  • @diamondjo The floors are glass fibre and the chassis tend to stay solid, wheel arches can rust though, but keep on top of that, you will get a few teething problems, but learn them and once repaired, forget about them, once you drive one, you will never look back, they are very special cars with their own souls and definatley a very useable everyday car, but as I stress, get the engine set up,change the ht leads and fuel lines!!!!,most parts are easy to get and not too expensive,go for it!;-)

  • @diamondjo Yes! The more you drive a 308 motor, the better it will be, they tend to get lethargic if left for a while, have the motor set up, belts and carbs balanced then forget for 3 years, They are very reliable but don't be frightened to work on them, they are easy and no computer chips to worry about, open the fuseboxes and clean then with electrical cleaner (really easy), insurance is very cheap (classic car insurance) and they are very good on fuel (honest!) The floors are glass fibre

  • @diamondjo Hi Jo,

As many people will tell you that a gt4 looks much better in the flesh! At any shows, they steal a lot of attention too! You have obviously done your reasearch and to be honest, now is the time to buy as they are starting to get recognition, remember they are over 30 years old and under 3000 built worldwide, there could be only around 1500 left, there are bargains out there but set aside to have the engine work done, once complete, they are bomb proof,as for everday use?yes!!!

  • @spo5egy Hi, i'm beggining to become more enamered with the 308 gt4, it's definitely an undervalued model of the Ferrari mark and the looks are definitely getting better with age, lovely car :) I wouldn't mind taking a punt and buying one myself, what are the pitfalls? The other thing is, how useable is it, i'd like to use it almost everyday, could it handle it? cheers.

  • @1372cc Thanks for your very kind comment, it is quite an affordable car to own, you would be pleasantly surprised, if you ever want to know more about these cars, drop me an e-mail anytime and I will be more than happy to help, thanks again
