Key Appleseeds painted portrait by Aaron Porter

This video is part of a project that I am working on; New York City Buskers (street musicians).

This is a time-lapsed video is of me working on a painting of Key Appleseeds This is the second painting that I have done as part of this project, which will consist of a series of photographic essays and painted portraits.

I often stop to hear street musicians and I have often wondered what inspires them, what gives the the guts to put themselves out there like that. I am curious to know what makes them tick and what are their stories.

So this curiosity, and built in musical inspiration and admiration is what inspired me to get over being timid about meeting these people and begin this project.

The music used in this video was recorded from one of Key's subway concerts.

The thing I enjoyed the most about this video is how you incorporated not only the visual painting of the street artist but the art of the street artist you are creating. You took it a step further, nice idea. Looked at your MFA paintings, you got some skill, I would like to see some more work like that. Beautiful layering, at least best I could see through a reproduction with a 2-D picture. Thanks for the nod, hope you are surviving alright out there in the big city.
